How to Port Your Number to Telkom, MTN, Vodacom in South Africa

how porting business phone numbers works 1

All mobile service providers in South Africa have a porting process which allows you to keep your current number when switching networks. To complete the porting process, you will need to obtain an Authorization Code (PAC) from your old provider which should be sent by SMS or email to you as soon as you provide them with your request. You then take this code to your new provider who will use it to start the porting process. The entire porting process usually takes 3-5 days depending on the network.

How to Port Your Number to Telkom

0592f9fde69a4e5aaa3d6a0192e2ec0b

1. Gather your details:

Before you port your number to Telkom, make sure you have all the information about your existing service provider, including the account holder’s name and address, as well as the mobile phone number itself.

2. Apply for a new Telkom contract:

Depending on if you’re signing up for a prepaid or postpaid plan will determine the process to follow. The website has clearly outlined instructions for registration and applications, which should be closely followed.

3. Request a port request:

Once you’ve registered for your new Telkom package, you’ll need to apply for a number port request with Telkom. This involves filling out an online form (available on the website) with details regarding both your existing contract with other service providers and your newly-obtained Telkom package.

4. Confirmation:

After that is done, Telkom will review the port request and will provide confirmation via email once approved. They may also need to contact you further or send you additional documents regarding the move along with proof of identity (passport or identity document).

5. Final approval:

Once everything has been confirmed by both parties on their end, final approval should take no longer than 48 hours before you’ll receive an activation PIN or message from Telkom directly to confirm that your number switch was successful!

6. The waiting period begins:

During this period it is still possible to use services from both carriers but nothing can be done in terms of cloning/copying any data onto the new carrier, so keep that in mind during this time until everything is fully transferred over (this could take up to 24 hours).

7. Transfer complete!:

After a few final checks are completed, such as maintaining consistent service quality – then finally all operations should be finalized within 72 hours of approval from each company’s side!

How to Port Your Number to MTN

New mtn logo

1. Prepare Your Number and SIM

Before you make the switch, it’s important to have your current information on hand. Gather your phone number, the carrier that issued you the number, and your SIM card.

2. Check Eligibility

Once you have all of your information gathered, it’s time to check if you’re eligible for porting your number to MTN. Start by calling 083 135 or logging onto the website at www.portalservices.mtnbusiness.co.za to see if making the switch is an option for you.

3. Get an MTN Sim Card

The next step is obtaining a new MTN SIM card that will enable you to port in your previous number from a different network service provider. Make sure that the new SIM card is compatible with your phone’s model first! You don’t want any surprises later on when trying to connect it to your device. Additionally, one will need their credentials (ID or passport) for verification purposes when purchasing the SIM card at any MTN shop or store nearby.

4. Collect Transfer Code & Documentation

Once you have received the new sim card, give them a call at the customer service (082 155) incoming portability line and request a transfer code by providing them with all of your information, including your ID/passport number. They will also require proof of residence, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement, where necessary, before sending out an SMS notification containing an 8-digit transfer code, which must be kept safe as it will be required during the process activation stage.

5. Submit Port Request

Now that you’ve got everything ready, it’s time to submit the actual porting request to implement MTN’s services in the subject area. Head over online and complete a form submission located here: www,mtnbusiness/Portal Services ensuring all fields are completed correctly, including the transfer code & documentation mentioned above, so as not to slow down the processing time too much. Once submitted , expect an acknowledgement message within 48–72 hours outlining whether successful capture occurred or details may need further amending.

6. Activate Service

After initial screening process was done and the system accepted given entry provided , its time now activate individual account . To do this, a text message “activation” should be sent off the associated email address given alongside the box prior to the completion of the registration link, inside which enter the new PIN given back acceptance into the platform.

7. Activate SIM Card & Configure Network Settings

If activation was successful, then finally the last step left to take place – activating the newly installed MTN SIM card through 3 simple steps: 1st dial *136# , 2nd select preferred language, 3rd select operator default list populates available networks and providers. Select “MTN South Africa” and press OK to confirm details. Setup is complete and ready for use; consequently, allowing direct access solutions puts customers first.

Before you attempt to port your number, make sure that Vodacom is compatible with your current service provider and that your number meets the criteria for portability.

2. Request a Porting Code:

Once you’ve confirmed eligibility, request a unique porting code from your current service provider, which will be used to initiate the transfer process with Vodacom.

3. Sign Up With Vodacom:

Sign up with Vodacom, either online or at a store near you, to complete the necessary paperwork and pay for your selected plan and device costs (if applicable) to officially activate your account with the network provider.

4. Provide Your Porting Code:

On the day of activation, provide Vodacom with your unique porting code so they can begin swapping services from your old provider to theirs on their backend systems.

Firearm license cost in south africa

SA Gun Licences 847x423 1

The cost of a firearm license in South Africa depends on the type of weapon being used and the purpose for which it is being applied. Fees range from around R100 to R500, and the application process may take anywhere from 6-8 weeks.

1. Application fee:

All applicants must pay a R140 application fee when submitting their firearm license application to the police station.

2. Training fees:

Depending on where you take your training course, you may need to pay for a practical assessment and/or theoretical instruction for acquiring a firearm license in South Africa. These courses typically cost between R400 and R600, with longer courses costing more money.

3. Administration fees:

After completing the training course and being approved by an inspector of firearms, you will then be required to submit your application to the central firearms registry in Pretoria, where they will finalize all paperwork with relevant authorities such as SAPS and SARS. This is an administrative cost that will be incurred whether or not the application is successful or unsuccessful. The cost of this process ranges between R250 and R500, depending on how many certificates are needed and if there are any special requests that need attention.

4. Storage fees:

A gun vault is essential to storing firearms safely, which means you’ll need to buy one for your home or property in order to comply with safety regulations after obtaining a firearms license in South Africa. Depending on its size and security features, these vaults can cost from as little as R1500 up to several thousands of Rand!

5. Criminal record check fee

Pulling a criminal record history check is necessary for anyone applying for a firearm licence in South Africa but bear in mind that there may be additional costs associated because additional documentation from security agencies might have to be requested each time a new license is issued. So make sure you have applied for your firearm license well before it expires! The most common charges are around R150, but this can vary depending on how many forms need filling out, etc.

6. Firearm collection fee

Depending on what type of gun you want, there may also be another small fee involved before police officers release your approved firearm back into circulation after acquisition registration has been completed successfully at the Central Firearms Registry (CFR). Firearm collection fees can range anywhere between R50 and R200 depending on the type of weapon being collected or transported (e.g., shotguns require less transport than machine guns).

7. Renewal fees

Lastly, when it comes time to renewing your firearm license every 3 years, it doesn’t come cheap; a renewal fee typically runs somewhere near (but quite often above) the original acquisition & storage costs combined, so bear this in mind if budgeting correctly over time!
