How to Track and Locate Your Lost or Stolen iPhone

If your iPhone has been stolen, you can use the Find My app to locate it. All iPhones and iPads come with the Find My app installed, so as long as it is still on the device and connected to the internet, you can use this app to track its exact location. You can also lock the device remotely or erase all of the data from the device if needed.

1. Check your iCloud account.

If you’ve enabled iCloud for your device, then you can easily check the location of your iPhone in the “Find My” app or on the iCloud website. This will tell you where your phone is (or if it’s offline). You can also activate a lost mode that will make it easier to locate your iPhone, lock it, and leave a message if someone finds it.

2. Look up your IMEI number

To find out more information about the exact whereabouts of your device, look up its IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. This is a unique identifier for each mobile device that helps law enforcement track it down. Your carrier might even be able to help you track the device using the IMEI number too.

3. Use tracking services like Google Maps or Apple’s Find My Friends

You might be able to use GPS tracking services from providers like Google Maps or Apple’s “Find My Friends” app to track down your phone if it is active with service or data. Do so by selecting “see friends on map” after logging into your Google Maps account or by tapping “toggle sharing my location” in the section of the app dedicated to locating friends and family.

4. Track using an app or software designed specifically for finding a stolen device

If none of these methods work, you can turn to third-party apps and software in order to better track down a missing device and get pictures of who stole it—if they’re still using it, that is. Some options include Prey Anti-Theft and Cerberus Anti-Theft at no cost, or gadgets like Trakdot Locate Lost Stuff for a fee but more versatility in terms of tracking luggage, pets, kids, property, etc.

5. Contact law enforcement

As a last resort contact law enforcement if all else fails—they may be able to help you out with resources based on their knowledge related to electronics and safety protocols, as well as provide updated reports from surrounding areas related to any stolen devices that were reported lately that match yours based off its unique serial code/IMEI number recorded when registering online with whichever network provider was being used for service/data plans subscribed before being stolen!]

Let’s not forget to share the knowledge with our LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter friends ❤.
