How to Port Your Number to Telkom, MTN, Vodacom in South Africa

All mobile service providers in South Africa have a porting process which allows you to keep your current number when switching networks. To complete the porting process, you will need to obtain an Authorization Code (PAC) from your old provider which should be sent by SMS or email to you as soon as you provide them with your request. You then take this code to your new provider who will use it to start the porting process. The entire porting process usually takes 3-5 days depending on the network.

1. Gather your details:

Before you port your number to Telkom, make sure you have all the information about your existing service provider, including the account holder’s name and address, as well as the mobile phone number itself.

2. Apply for a new Telkom contract:

Depending on if you’re signing up for a prepaid or postpaid plan will determine the process to follow. The website has clearly outlined instructions for registration and applications, which should be closely followed.

3. Request a port request:

Once you’ve registered for your new Telkom package, you’ll need to apply for a number port request with Telkom. This involves filling out an online form (available on the website) with details regarding both your existing contract with other service providers and your newly-obtained Telkom package.

4. Confirmation:

After that is done, Telkom will review the port request and will provide confirmation via email once approved. They may also need to contact you further or send you additional documents regarding the move along with proof of identity (passport or identity document).

5. Final approval:

Once everything has been confirmed by both parties on their end, final approval should take no longer than 48 hours before you’ll receive an activation PIN or message from Telkom directly to confirm that your number switch was successful!

6. The waiting period begins:

During this period it is still possible to use services from both carriers but nothing can be done in terms of cloning/copying any data onto the new carrier, so keep that in mind during this time until everything is fully transferred over (this could take up to 24 hours).

7. Transfer complete!:

After a few final checks are completed, such as maintaining consistent service quality – then finally all operations should be finalized within 72 hours of approval from each company’s side!

Make sure that the new SIM card is compatible with your phone’s model first! You don’t want any surprises later on when trying to connect it to your device. Additionally, one will need their credentials (ID or passport) for verification purposes when purchasing the SIM card at any MTN shop or store nearby.

4. Collect Transfer Code & Documentation

Once you have received the new sim card, give them a call at the customer service (082 155) incoming portability line and request a transfer code by providing them with all of your information, including your ID/passport number. 5. Submit Port Request

Now that you’ve got everything ready, it’s time to submit the actual porting request to implement MTN’s services in the subject area. Head over online and complete a form submission located here: www,mtnbusiness/Portal Services ensuring all fields are completed correctly, including the transfer code & documentation mentioned above, so as not to slow down the processing time too much. Once submitted , expect an acknowledgement message within 48–72 hours outlining whether successful capture occurred or details may need further amending.

6. Activate Service

After initial screening process was done and the system accepted given entry provided , its time now activate individual account . To do this, a text message “activation” should be sent off the associated email address given alongside the box prior to the completion of the registration link, inside which enter the new PIN given back acceptance into the platform.
