33 cars & drivers that will start the 2023 Indianapolis 500

This is the 2023 Indianapolis 500 starting lineup. The 200-lap race is planned for Sunday, May 28, on the 2½-mile Indianapolis Engine Speedway oval.

After two days of qualifying, 11 rows of three drivers make up the Indy 500 starting lineup. At 234.217 mph, Alex Palou holds the record for the fastest pole position speed in race history. The field normal of 232.184 mph is the quickest in race history.

On May 21, the Fast Six established the speeds for Rows 1-2, while the Fast 12 established the speeds for Rows 3-4; speeds for Lines 5-10 were set on May 20; On May 21, speeds for Row 11 were set during last chance qualifying.

Incorporates beginning position, (vehicle number), driver name (R-new kid on the block; W-Indy 500 champion), engine, team, and average speed for four laps of qualifying. Dallara chassis and Firestone tires are used in each vehicle.

Includes starting position, (car number), driver name (R-rookie; W-Indy 500 winner), engine, team and 4-lap qualifying speed average. All cars have Dallara chassis and use Firestone tires.
