Pre-paid electricity meter reset codes in South Africa vary depending on the type of prepaid meter you have. Generally, these are typically composed of two codes: a service code usually starting with “75” and an access code usually beginning with “#*172”. Consumers can use these reset codes to purchase additional electricity credit before their current credit runs low.
1. How to Pay Postpaid Power Bills
Pay postpaid power bills by using the *120*321# USSD code, which will provide a list of all the payment methods accepted by ESKOM. Select your preferred payment method and follow the on-screen instructions to make the payment. Your postpaid power bill will be updated accordingly.
2. Disconnect Prepayment Meter Balance Warning SMS
To disconnect any prepaid meter due to a negative balance or expired token, you can dial the USSD code *150*071# and click “disconnect” from the menu options once prompted. This process should not take longer than 5 minutes and requires no physical presence from an engineer too.
3. Last Token Update SMS
When topping up or resetting a prepaid meter, customers receive a token update SMS, which contains information about their current balance as well as their last transaction (e.g., expenses for electricity used, etc.). To retrieve this token update, you’ll need to dial *150*060# and select ‘last transaction’ from the menu options presented on screen.
4. Token Reactivation Error Code 1151
If this error code appears when trying to reactivate a prepaid meter, it means that your account has been disconnected due to an outstanding ESKOM bill balance that needs to be paid first before reactivating it again via in app purchases or at an ESKOM procurement store.
5. Reset Unsuccessfully with Error Code 513 / 0X05
This error occurs when attempting to reset a prepaid meter but failing due to incorrect details being entered on the consumer’s side (e.g., an old PIN number). You’ll need to contact your local municipality authority and have them issue you new details, such as another PIN number or other authentication details, for a successful reset of your meter device instead.
6. Reset Meter With App
Using an app is one of the simplest ways of resetting your prepaid electricity meter in South Africa; downloading apps such as E-Sevasi or MyMeter is free and allows users to connect their prepayment meters online, simplifying real-time top-ups or changes in usage settings anytime, anywhere! All you’ll need is the 12-digit login number displayed on each meter’s display box and sent via SMS once you’ve successfully registered with this app service provider’s website or platform!
7. Replenish Your Credit At Checkers stores
ESKOM also allows customers who are following traditional route of currency payments, i..e shopping at checkers stores – top up whenever & wherever they want using airtime cards which contain specific amounts towards electricity bills & charges this approach enables consumers buy things without leaving checkers environment making replenishment easier depending on where they live find nearby stores carrying Eskom’s service card!
