FKA Twigs and Nicholas Cage have been cast to portray the parental figures of Jesus in the upcoming horror film, “The Carpenter’s Son,” directed by Lotfy Nathan. While the idea of Twigs as Mary and Cage as Joseph in a horror-inspired narrative about Jesus’ childhood may seem unconventional, it’s set to become a reality with Nathan’s film.

The storyline of “The Carpenter’s Son” revolves around a family seeking refuge in Roman Egypt. The central character, referred to as ‘the Boy,’ experiences doubt instigated by another mysterious child, leading him to rebel against his guardian, known as the Carpenter. This rebellion reveals the Boy’s innate powers and an unforeseen destiny, which exposes the family to both natural and supernatural threats.
The movie features additional talent, including Noah Jupe and Souheila Yacoub, with production handled by Cinenovo and Spacemaker, and filming scheduled to commence this summer.

Lotfy Nathan, whose debut feature “Harka” premiered at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard in 2022, is at the helm of this project. His previous work includes the acclaimed documentary “12 O’Clock Boys,” which earned him the HBO Emerging Artist award.

FKA Twigs, who has been exploring acting since the release of her album “Caprisongs” in 2022, is also set to star alongside Bill Skarsgård in Rupert Sanders’ remake of “The Crow,” slated for release this August. Twigs recently garnered attention for creating a deepfake version of herself for online fan interactions.
Meanwhile, Nicholas Cage received praise for his role in the 2023 film “Dream Scenario,” earning him a nomination for Best Actor in a musical or comedy.
